The experience of a lifetime

Going into the Walden tripping program as a first year who had never experienced Walden as a camper, I did not know what to expect. I had been on many canoe trips both on my own time and as a camper at other camps and thought that tripping at Walden would be no different.

This was, I discovered, far from the reality. Camp Walden offers a fundamentally unique tripping experience unlike any I’ve ever seen. From the very first trip I went on I knew that I couldn’t see myself spending my summers anywhere else. Every single one of the trippers are so passionate about the outdoors that the campers can’t help but share in that wonder.

My goal as a tripper is to help others to fall in love with nature as much as I have, and watching a camper who was initially not crazy about canoe tripping gradually grow to love it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. The time I spent in the forests of Ontario this past summer were, for lack of a better word, magical.
