We want to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to come see us at camp! We do understand that it is a long drive for a short day (and for some, just a few days before 1st month campers go home) but we have heard that the visit is worthwhile. Please be patient with our parking process. We do not promise to be fast, but we do promise to be fair and safe.

Our gates open at approximately 11:00 a.m. and we hope to have everyone parked before noon. Please follow the directions of our camp greeters and parking staff.

Once your car is parked, we ask that it remain that way until you wish to leave camp. To preserve the safety of your children and our visitors, cars are not to be driven anywhere around camp. You may notice that some areas are blocked off with chains, picnic tables, canoes, or garbage cans – please do not try to cross these lines as they demarcate “No Driving Zones” at camp.

Campers are excited to see their families! If you have any difficulty finding your camper amidst the excitement, please come to the office where you will be connected with them.

Colour and Comic campers can be collected just outside the building called the Omni. Zodiac campers can be collected just outside the building called the Warehouse. Seekers will be in Agora, and our CITs will be in the new CL.

Every summer, the camp office is inundated with packages sent up to campers. This is a reminder that we ask families NOT to send packages to campers.

The only exception to this rule is in the case of birthdays–parents may send a package to be given to their camper on their birthday, and should be labelled clearly as such.

We understand the desire to want to bring things for your child on Visitor’s Day, and spoil them with items they may miss while away at camp! Nonetheless, we respectfully ask that you continue to follow our Food and Package Policy.

Here are a couple of reminders:

  • Please do not bring anything for your camper that is on the Do Not Pack List.
  • Items found that are on this list will be confiscated and donated.
  • Parents may leave a maximum of one grocery bag of food & drink per camper today only.

PLEASE NOTE: Products containing peanuts in the ingredients, bottled water of any kind, and cases of pop are strictly banned and will be confiscated.

Due to the number of campers that ask to show off their skills at ski, a random selection of campers is made. A schedule is created and posted in the dining hall, at ski, and the cork boards by the office. Everyone is invited to come watch the skiing, but only those on the list should ask to ski.

  • If multiple siblings are participating, they will be scheduled consecutively.
  • Families should arrive at the docks 20 minutes before their camper is scheduled to ski.
  • On arrival, please identify yourself to the dock manager and sign in.
  • Once signed in, please stay at the docks.
  • While waiting, please stay behind the green line painted on the docks until your family is called.
  • A maximum of 2 adults and 3 children are allowed into the ski boats to spot/watch/video a camper. Everyone must wear a lifejacket while in the ski boat.
  • Please come dressed and prepared to listen to the directions of the ski staff to help us ensure a smooth afternoon.
  • Please understand that skiing and fun is very important, but your safety is paramount! As such, our capable head of ski may make changes to ensure the integrity of the ski program and the safety of all participants and observers.

  • The following members of camp’s Leadership Team will be available outside the main office for most of the day:
    • Camp’s Owners: Sol, Jen, Howie, and Sari
    • Camp’s Assistant Director (and Seeker & CIT Tracker): Ben Fagan
    • Camp’s CO-Comic Colour Tracker: Danielle Zelikovitz
    • Camp’s CO-Comic Comic Trackers: Nadine Block and Bethany Wright
    • Camp’s CO-Comic Zodiac Trackers: Sophie Lloyd and Sarah Krestell
    • Camp’s Seeker Tracker: Alicia Krumholz
    • Camp’s MASH Coordinator: Bree Peters
    • Camp’s Head of Camper Relations: Mel Offman
    • Camp’s Dining Hall Manager: Lyndsay Cloughley will be eager to discuss any Food Questions or
Special Diet Questions with her fellow Kitchen Heads in the Dining Hall.
  • Our MASH Team is happy to greet you at MASH during the afternoon.
  • Camp’s Associate Director, Seth Cole, and Camp’s Program Directors, Matt Sherman and Jamie Collins will be circulating around camp throughout the afternoon to answer any questions you might have about our skill development programs.
  • CL 2.0 IS COMPLETE! We’d love for you to come and visit our new Counsellor’s Lounge! 4400 sq. ft. built-in just over 12 weeks! Come and see it in all its Posts and Beams and Boards and Batten glory! Happy Staff… Happy Camp! There were a few days when we were finishing the floors so we asked the staff to remove their shoes. But then, even though the floors were done, the staff chanted in the Dining Hall “Socks by choice! Socks by choice!” We are calling this the summer of socks! We will be selling new and vintage clothing from inside! But please:
    • Be aware that there are still a few last items that we are fixing. o No animals and No eating in there this year.
    • Be aware that it is an adult space. If your campers are coming in, please ask them to be careful.
  • The Dining Hall will be open from approximately 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for our usual Visiting Day spectacular! An announcement will be made when the Hall is officially open.
  • The Tuck Shop will be open from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with some snacks available.
  • Some unlabelled Lost and Found will be on display in camp’s BBQ Pit across from the Dining Hall. Please note that quite a bit of Lost and Found was collected after Colour Wars and is being cleaned and distributed on Monday.
  • Our staff work as a team. Please do not tip camp staff. In our experience, kind words and an appreciative note go further than any gift.
  • Many of our specialities are open between 12:15 – 3:30 p.m.
    • All camp boats and our Walls facilities are to be enjoyed by campers only.
    • The use of the swimming facilities is available to campers throughout the day. Non-campers may use our “1st Area” only.
  • Please help keep Walden clean by placing garbage in the appropriate receptacles and paper, cans, or bottles in camp’s recycling bins.
  • Thank you for keeping your dog on a leash and providing any necessary scooping of poop!
  • We ask that you respect our end-time of 4:00 p.m. SHARP and begin your goodbyes at 3:45 p.m. so that we can resume our regular camp programs for your camper comfortably. Although there may be a few tears, our staff are trained and well equipped to ease the transition back into camp life. Colour and Comic campers should be returned to their cabins before 4 pm.  If you need some assistance with your goodbye, please don’t hesitate to ask your child’s counsellor for help.
